Rebels with a Garden

Wow, it has been a busy week in the world of Urban Gardening.

Seems that some people don’t like seeing people grow vegetables in their front yard.  It’s OK to help feed your family/household as long as no one can see it from the street.  Since when did self sufficiency become something you have to hide?  Check out the Farmhouse Blog for some info on what is happening in a nearby south Vancouver neighborhood.

Also check out the article talking about community gardening in the Vancouver Sun that mentions the UP Elgin Community garden.

Also our own Cinthia has a new website for her program Can You Dig It which, through transforming urban spaces into agricultural spaces, empowers persons with developmental disabilities and exposes the community to their skills and abilities.

Seems like everywhere i look these days there is more people growing food for themselves and creating  new communities. Nice to see.
